The Quiet Power of a Mother’s Voice: Encouragement for New Moms

This is a letter of encouragement for new moms stepping into the beauty and difficulty of motherhood.

Dear sister,

I see you.

I see you entering the world of motherhood.

From the outside, it all looks so beautiful — the tiny hands, the baby smell, the sweet smiles. And It is beautiful. But it’s all so hard. The fatigue, the unknowns, the longing for how life used to be. I have been there, and I know how it feels.

And here’s what I want you to know: you are doing great.

Let me say it again — you are doing great.

I know there are moments that you wonder, Am I made for this? Am I good enough? But let me tell you the truth: you are great mom. Not because you do this perfectly — no one does — but because you love this child, and show up every single day.

Even on your worse days, you show up.

With the messy bun.

With unwashed face.

With your pajamas still one.

You show up.

You wake up in the middle of the night — four times, ten times, one-thousand times. You feed this baby, you change his diaper. You comfort him. He knows count on you. He knows you will be there, always.

And I know you will, and I’m so proud of you. For the mom you are becoming.

For some time now, I have pondered the power of a mother’s voice. A mother’s voice can be spoken or silent. It’s our influence in this world — and the people we can influence the most are our children.

We influence them when we tell them they are good.

We influence them when we show love and care, just as you are doing right now.

So let your voice shine.

You are a wonderful mom.

With Love,

Your sister,

Michelli
